Research Areas
- Optics; wavefront sensing; directed energy; imaging; optical interference filters.
- High voltage electronics; smart sensors and instrumentation.
- Electrical properties of energetic materials; ballistics.
My primary research interests involve combinations of optics and electronics in pursuit of understanding physical systems. I am involved in the development of physics based computer simulations for a wide variety of systems including optical interference filters, high voltage electronics and ballistics typically using MATLAB. I am currently writing my 5th book for SPIE, have authored or coauthored more than 100 technical papers, and been awarded 4 US patents. I teach courses in electronics, optics and MATLAB.
