Tom Engler
Tom Engler is a professor of petroleum engineering at NMT. His research expertise is in formation evaluation, naturally fractured reservoirs, and unconventional gas recovery.
Engler earned two bachelor’s (geology and petroleum engineering) and a master’s in petroleum engineering, all from New Mexico Tech. He earned his Ph.D. in petroleum engineering from the University of Oklahoma.
Her-Yuan Chen
Her-Yuan Chen is an associate professor of petroleum engineering at NMT. He is well-regarded for his research interests in well-testing, reservoir analysis, and analytical solutions.
He earned his bachelor’s in ocean engineering from the Institute of Marine Science and Technology in Taiwan. He earned has master’s and PH.D. in petroleum engineering, both from Texas A&M University.
Mike Kelly
Mike Kelly is an assistant professor of petroleum engineering at NMT. His research interests are in well testing, production and pressure transient, tight gas reservoirs, and small production company operations.
He earned his bachelor’s, master’s, and Ph.D. from New Mexico Tech.
Jiajing Lin
Jiajing Lin is an assistant professor of petroleum engineering at NMT. Her research interests include unconventional reservoirs, performance of multilateral wells, and well completion.
She earned her bachelor’s in electronic engineering from the Beijing Institute of Technology. She earned a master’s from the University of Louisiana-Lafayette and her PH.D. from Texas A&M University, both in petroleum engineering.
Tan Nguyen
Tan Nguyen is an assistant professor of petroleum engineering at NMT. His research interests are slurry flow in the wellbore, casing design, directional and horizontal drilling, drilling fluid rheology, wellbore hydraulics, and airlift methods.
He earned his bachelor’s and master’s in chemical engineering from Ho Chi Minh Technology University. He earned his Ph.D. in petroleum engineering from the University of Tulsa.
Hamid Rahnema
Hamid Rahnema is an associate professor of petroleum engineering at NMT. His research interests are enhanced oil recovery, unconventional resources, CO2 flooding and gas injection, and numerical modeling.
He earned his master’s in reservoir geosciences and engineering from the French Institute of Petroleum. He earned his Ph.D. from Texas A&M University.
