Welcome, Future Techie!

The following checklist  will walk you through the process of admission and registration and review some of the essentials    to success at New Mexico Tech. 


1. Set Up Application Status Page

After submitting your application, you will recieve an email from NMT confirming your application submission and giving you instructions to set up a page on Slate. 


2. Accept Admission and Pay Admission Fee on Status Page

You can accept admission on the Slate status page and pay your admission deposit.  The admission deposit must be paid before any other steps can be taken. 
After accepting your admission,  you should review the status page to ensure there no pending requests for documentation.


3. Create a Banweb Account

Banweb manages registration, financial aid, and personal student information. You will use your Student ID ( beginning wit "900") to login along with an eight-character PIN in your admission paperwork. For detailed instructions on Banweb click here.  


4. Establish student email account

Instructions for setting up a student email account can be read here. You will receive all official communications from NMT on your student email account.


5. Complete Financial Aid Process

First, apply for Federal Financial Aid with school code 002654. There is no application needed for merit and NM Lottery scholarships. The financial aid office will contact you as your aid and scholarships are processed. You can also check the status of your financial aid and scholarships on Banweb . To qualify for priority consideration for merit scholarships, submit all documentation and accept your scholarships by March 1st.

6. Apply for On-Campus Housing 

To live on campus, fill out a Room and Board Application and pay the $200 housing deposit. Check out housing rates for 2020-2021 here. To find out more details about individual residence halls, meal plans and more visit the residential life web page.


7. Sign Up for Orientation

Orientation is mandatory for all first-time freshmen and transfer students. Students will have an opportunity to visit the school and speak to faculty and current students. Several orientation dates are available here


8. Speak to your Advisor

After you have created your NMT email address, Jonique Sais (jonique.sais@nmt.edu) will  contact you regarding scheduling classes as well as your academic advisors contact information. 

When meeting with your advisor, discuss:
-What classes to take, they will provide APIN for registration
-Four-Year Plan
-Placement test options (Math, English, Foreign Language)
-General questions about department, academics, and life at Tech

9. Register for Classes

You may register for classes online via Banweb (APIN required from your faculty adviser) or in person at orientation. Instructions for online registration are here.
